I have posted another image of with this, but with a smaller moon. Recently now I have a little more time to edit photos and so I re-edited the landscape and enlarged the moon and tucked it in behind the clouds.
Shot with a Nikon D3100 at 18mm for the landscape / 200mm for the moon. The image is a composite of just the result of a 30 second exposure on the landscape, light painted with an LED light. Moon obviously has a much faster shutter shutter speed.
Photos were edited in Adobe LIghtroom...then blended in Adobe Photoshop... and then again back to Lightroom for the final edit.
Photos were taken at the Bear Rocks Preserve of the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area in West Virginia.
I started photography in 2012. I grew up in a small town in West Virginia and lived there most of my life. Growing up around Tucker County, I constantly had the opportunity to visit all the surrounding state parks and scenic landscapes. I was probably a little spoiled in that respect. I now reside in Maryland, but West Virginia will always hold a special place in my heart. I will photograph just about anything, but I prefer landscapes the most. Recently I've been fascinated with astrophotography combined with landscape photography. It's just such a challenge. My main camera is the one I happen to have in my hand, but I prefer my Nikon D7200 paired with my Rokinon 10mm Ultrawide lens. In the future, I hope to invest in a longer lens so I...
